The national soccer team, Taifa Stars head coach, Marcio Maximo has dropped 16 players and maintained 20 players ahead of the three international friendly matches in Egypt and Yemen.
The players who have been dropped by Maximo are goalkeepers: Shaaban Kado, (Mtibwa Sugar) and Mohamed Mwarami (Ferroviario-Maputo) who were among four goalkeepers.

Vodacom Tanzania and its service provider, Shivacom, have awarded Miss Tanzania 2009 winner, Miriam Gerald, a Sh53.2 million sports car.
The brand new Suzuki Grand Vitara was handed to over to her by Ezekiel Majere of Vodacom. The beuty queen had already bagged Sh9 million in cash prizes for winning the crown.

The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has donated various items worth Sh10 million to a primary and three secondary schools.
Chamazi and Salma Kikwete secondary schools in Dar es Salaam got textbooks, tuition fees and laboratory equipment.

Tigo has donated 50 bicycles worth 6 million to help students who move on foot a long distance that covers 6 to 20 kilometers away from their respective schools in Gairo ward in Kilosa district.
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Kilosa town last weekend, Tigo public relations officer Mr Jackson Mbando said that the donation was a part of Tigo’s initiatives in boosting the government on education development.

The Independent Power Tanzania Limited was still not operating, with no official explanation why it has failed to meet the Sunday deadline.
The Minister for Energy and Minerals, Mr William Ngeleja promised the public that the IPTL and Tegeta power plants would start to produce 145 MW by November 1.

A family tussle broke out over where to burry Ruangwa Member of Parliament, Sigfrid Ngitu, who died at the Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam at midnight on Sunday.
Ngitu’s widow Prisca and some relatives and friends want the late MP buried in Dar es Salaam but another group of close relatives are threatening to boycott the burial if his remains are not interred at his ancestral home in Lindi. Read the rest of this entry »

The Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) Chief, Dr Edward Hoseah, came out to defend himself and the agency over investigations into MPs alleged pocketing of double allowances.
Besides, the PCCB Director General said he would not bow to pressure and resign as demanded by the MPs who have also called on the government to sack him over his perceived defence of the infamous Richmond power generating company.

A sense of order is slowly taking place at the Ubungo Bus Terminal (UBT) following the take over of its management by the Dar es Salaam City Council.
A survey has shown big improvement in the security situation. Touts who used to harass upcountry travellers were being effectively barred from entering the terminal.

The Chief of Defence Forces, General Davis Mwamunyange, has threatened to expel from the army soldiers who will involve themselves in unethical activities.
According to a press statement issued by TPDF headquarters, General Mwamunyange has urged for high sense of discipline among army personnel and never engage in crime or harass innocent civilians.
