Young Africans have rubbished rumours that Mike Baraza would be offloaded to join their bitter rivals Simba.
The club’s information officer, Louis Sendeu said Baraza has a valid contract with Young Africans and decision to axe him would come from coach Kosta Papic and the executive committee.

Majimaji fought gallantly to edge out struggling Moro United 3-2 in an exciting Vodacom Premier League match played at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania has booked its ticket to the next year’s World Pool Championship after finishing fifth at the just ended All Africa Tournament in South Africa.
Having guaranteed their place, the team will now continue gearing up for the championship, which will be held in France.

Prime Minister Mr Mizengo Pinda has told the opposition Civic United Front (CUF) to go to court if the party sincerely believes that the decision by the National Electoral Commission (NEC) to destroy obsolete voter registration cards was against the law.
He made the remark when responding to a question from the Leader of the Official Opposition in Parliament, Mr Hamad Rashid Mohammed (Wawi-CUF), who reminded the Prime Minister of a question he asked earlier about the Government’s statement on the NEC move. Read the rest of this entry »

News about the suspension of interrogations to Members of Parliament over double payment of allowances by the Prevention and Combating of Corruptions Bureau (PCCB), have led to a call of resignation of the institution’s board of directors.

Early signs of thawing relations among Zanzibar’s main political antagonists emerged, with a rare meeting between President Amani Abeid Karume and his long time political rival and critic, Seif Shariff Hamad.
President Karume hosted the Civic United Front (CUF) Secretary General who was stepping back into the Zanzibar State House after several years of boycotting joint meetings with the President and also his predecessor.

President Jakaya Kikwete said that grand corruption cases were difficult to probe and conclude due to among other things inadequate cooperation from international intelligence and crime agencies.
Speaking at the second Economist business roundtable in Dar es Salaam, Mr Kikwete said the cases were so intricate to be handled by local authorities alone. He said the scams were schemes that involved many people, both locals and foreigners as well as big corporations, which posed a big intelligence gathering challenge.
