The government is to decide on the fate of Tanesco and the Full Gospel Bible Fellowship Church over the overhead high voltage power transmission line.

Mr Kakobe and the Full Gospel Bible Fellowship worshipers, claimed that such a transmission line would interfere with the electronic recording system the church uses during holy mass.After a two-month long silence over the ongoing tug-of war between the church and Tanesco, the minister for Energy and Minerals is now set to intervene in the saga by issuing a govern- ment directive. The East African Community will have an election observation manual for determining the credibility of electoral processes and legitimacy of election outcomes.The draft manual was adopted by the just-concluded third session of the East African Legislative Assembly (Eala) in Kampala.
The EAC said in a statement that the manual had been introduced within the framework of enhancing democracy, the rule of law and good governance. “The document sets a common standard to determine the credibility of electoral processes and the legitimacy of electoral outcomes in all the five EAC member states” Eala member from Uganda Mike Sebalu told the assembly. Mr Sebalu, who was a member of the committee the formulated the draft, the manual was a tool to entrench the democratic culture of transparent electoral processes and prevent conflicts in the region. THE Deputy Minister for Education and Vocational Training Ms Gaudentia Kabaka has said that Tanzania’s rapid population growth poses a major challenge to the educational sector.
Ms Kabaka made the pronouncement on Friday evening at the launch ceremony of University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) distance education e-learning programme for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Masters of Engineering Management.
The deputy minister noted that such a population trend had indicated that the number of those seeking education at all levels was increasing. “In spite of this fact, educational institutions in Tanzania are not expanding enough to accommodate the increasing number of students seeking access to higher education,” Ms Kabaka noted.

A TEAM of medical experts from the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) and Mwananyamala District Hospital convened in Dar es Salaam yesterday, to analyze the strange and mysterious child disease reported at a city hospital recently.
Yesterday’s meeting, chaired by the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Deo Mtasiwa, follows reports of medical condition that has affected one-month-old baby, Sabri Ibrahim, who was hospitalized and diagnosed with a rare medical case at the MNH.
Dr Mtasiwa confirmed to Daily News on the meeting, saying further details would be given later. Doctors from Mwananyamala District Hospital and the MNH have teamed up but are yet to establish the nature or cause of the disease in the child after earlier interviews, physical examination and medical tests.
