Pinda praises Chief Justice Ramadhan

PRIME Minister Mizengo Pinda has praised Chief Justice Augustino Ramadhani calling him an upright thinking man. He has described him as a God fearing man who has played a big role in helping promote the country’s democracy.

Mr Pinda showered the praises on the chief justice on Monday when inaugurating the first High Court sessions scheduled to begin today at Sumbawanga High Court here. The Chief Justice will chair the sessions and will be assisted by two judges.

The Premier further said that he was moved by Chief Justice Ramadhani’s refusal to accept millions of shillings disbursed by the government for rehabilitation of his residence which was in bad shape.

TSN on investment drive

THE Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN), publishers of ‘Daily News’, ‘Sunday News’ and ‘Habari LEO’ and ‘HabariLEO Jumapili’ plans to invest heavily on its products in order to improve its business.

TSN Acting Managing Editor, Mr Mkumbwa Ally told the company’s Workers’ Council in Dar es Salaam on Monday that the investment would range from human resources to improving of its products in the market.

“We are aiming at investing massively in order to improve our products in the market,” Mr Mkumbwa said. He said he was happy with the company’s performance in the market which has made ‘Daily News’ the leader among the English dailies.

Producers search for Indian filmmaking venues in parks

 A prominent Bollywood film maker, Mr Manmohan Shetty, is in Tanzania’s northern tourist circuit to explore the best venue for film making.  Mr Shetty, who is also the president of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India, landed at Kilimanjaro International Airport (Kia) from Mumbai in India on Saturday evening.

Accompanying Mr Shetty is Mr Praveen Nischol, another renowned Indian specialised in films and advertisements production in the Asian country. Behind their trip is the state-run Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) in collaboration with Bobby Tours, one of the Tanzania’s leading safari specialist firm.

Twiga Stars upbeat despite defeat

 Twiga Stars assistant coach Mohamed Rishard was optimistic about his team’s chances of sparkling in the African Women Championship finals despite losing 6-0 to South Africa on Saturday.

The South Africans hosted Twiga Stars in a build up match to the finals and outclassed the visitors, scoring three stupendous goals in either halves.
