TNBC to promote Kilimo Kwanza at Nane nane show

THE Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC) will take part in the Nane Nane Agricultural show which begins in Dodoma on Sunday, under theme of Kilimo Kwanza.

TNBC Executive Secretary Dunstan Mrutu said in Dar es Salaam on Thursday that the event was an opportunity to sensitise the people on Kilimo Kwanza and its underlying ten pillars, providing platform for communication and creating common understanding on roles and responsibilities.

“Tanzanians will definitely benefit from this year’s event,” Mr Mrutu stressed.Kilimo Kwanza is an ambitious government initiative that aims at revamping agricultural sector and uses it, attaining strong and viable economy for the country’s development. Mr Mrutu explained that TIB, one of the TNBC’s core partners, would address and showcase the Kilimo Kwanza agriculture finance window as a prelude for the agriculture development bank.

The TIB’s agricultural projects financing window aims at financing production, processing and marketing of all agriculture and agriculture-related projects for short, medium and long terms.

The Nane Nane event would feature prime events for high level presentations by ministers, government officials and the private sector interactively highlighting the ten Kilimo Kwanza pillars.

The event is expected to be opened by the Vice-President, Ali Mohamed Shein, while President Jakaya Kikwete is expected to be present at the event’s climax where he would address the nation.

The president is also expected to present Kilimo Kwanza awards including recognition of best implementers of the initiative’s pillars and its supporters as well.
