BEWARE!!!! This morning when I was coming to work, I witnessed with my two eyes a nasty, embarrassing and heart-breaking incidence; DRIVERS were being apprehended, handcuffed and deposited at the corner for breaking Traffic Rules. Along the Kinondoni road, near the Muslim Secondary School, on the fateful morning, an elderly man, driving his brand new VX Land cruiser, was stopped and pulled out of the vehicle, handcuffed and deposited at the corner!! He appeared to be a very senior man in Government or private sector, but that was completely disregarded. He tried to defend himself and was silenced and led to the corner to join other people who had already been apprehended and handcuffed to wait for a free-ride in the inmates vehicle!! In no time, he lost his freedom, he was under the Arm of the State!!! Read the rest of this entry »

In the world of politics, two words are used from to time that some assume to have little difference. One is apparatchik and the other is stalwart. If one reads the dictionary there is a significant difference between the two. Apparatchik is a word with a history from Russia and would be used to describe “a member of the administrative system of a communist party”. Furthermore, it is considered “derogatory or humorous” vis-à-vis an “official in a large political organization”. In the case of stalwart, it is somebody “loyal, reliable and hardworking”.

RECHARGING the Arusha Declaration in the 1980s was inevitable in order to move with the times because it lacked coherent mechanism to implement the policies of socialism and self-reliance, it was said in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

For his part, prime minister Pinda hailed the conference, challenging researchers to empower local communities through letting them know about their work.
He said the government valued their contribution and has allotted more funds for research in a bid to find solutions to a myriad of problems.
He said the government still believed that the agricultural revolution held the real answer to the end of grinding poverty. He said while Kilimo Kwanza had attracted cynics and critics, it was generally a good intention to find a vehicle to hasten rural development and bring in the private sector to drive it forward. Researchers have found the fossil remains of a dinosaur cousin that lived 243 million years ago, making it the oldest known dinosaur relative.
The dinosaur cousin Asilisaurus kongwe live in Africa in the Middle Triassic period. The sail‑backed archosaur Hypselorhachisa appears in the background. (Marlene Hill Donnelly/Field Museum) The four-legged creature was part of a group of dinosaur-like animals called silesaurs, close relatives that fall just outside the dinosaur family tree.
The fossils of the new species, Asilisaurus kongwe, were discovered in southern Tanzania in 2007. The name, derived from Swahili and Greek, means “ancient lizard ancestor.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts has asked the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority to review its laws so as to relocate the Maasai community living in the middle of the park.
The committee under its chairperson Zitto Kabwe made the call during their tour to assess different projects that are implemented by NCAA upon which they found a large number of people and cattle inside the reserve.
