(AP/Riccardo Gangale) Shortly after Barack Obama’s election, South Africa’s Mail & Guardian newspaper ran a special issue depicting the president-elect as a superhero (Atlantic). But the newspaper’s editorial page took a more measured tone, warning against viewing him as Africa’s messiah. “The only lesson we can learn from him is to reimagine the art of the possible,” it said. Is Obama Africa’s superhero, or just its role model? A number of analysts and U.S. policymakers say he will likely be something in between, devoting new diplomatic attention to the continent but not necessarily increased aid or military support. more

As massive poverty continues to rock the majority of Tanzanians, the latest data reveal that Tanzania`s wealth in terms of the top five metals out of eleven provable mineral deposits amounting to millions of tonnes.
It is hard to believe it, but that is the reality in a country where 38million plus population lives in abject poverty, below a dollar per day, while 89percent of the total population survive on a single meal per day. more

Kenyan trade Unionist turned Politician Mr. Martin Shikuku who was one of the Delegate with Mzee Jomo Kenyatta at the Lancaster Conference on Kenya’s Independence in the early Sixties, has openly proclaimed that had he known how the plight of the majority of Kenyan’s been under despotic and successive rules of Kenyatta, Moi and now Kibaki turned majority of Kenyan’s as pathetic, he Martin Shikuku would not have struggled for Kenya’s Independence. more
